I am sick of being lazy.......

Not sure what to say.....

I have been a huge slacker lately. In every part of my life. I guess you can say I am half ass-ing everything. I am not cleaning the house like I should. I am not doing the laundry enough and I am not making healthy dinner choices for my family. I am also half ass-ing my workouts. Let's just say, I am only doing what I HAVE to, to get by. I am getting my Saturday long runs in, and I do a mid week long run of 8-10 miles, and then at least one to two more runs during the week of 4-5 miles. I am not focusing on speed work, I am not doing hill repeats, and I am not cross training at all. I haven't lifted weights in weeks. What the hell is my problem?

I want to Spring Clean, I want to be better about the laundry. I want to cook fabulous healthy meals for my family. I want to qualify for Boston again, therefore I want to work on my speed. I want to do hill repeats because I know it will make me a stronger runner. I want to lift weights, because I know it is good for me. So why am I not getting these things done?

I wish I knew the answer to these questions that I have about myself. The only thing I can think of is that, this has just been a VERY LONG Winter. Seriously. Just when you think the weather is going to be nice again, it goes back to below freezing temps. UGH..... I could scream. To top all of this off, I haven't been blogging as much, nor have I been reading other blogs. Again, it's not that I don't want to, I just can't seem to find any motivation for anything else but reading these days. I have checked out several books from the Library and when I do this, I end up living in my bedroom and reading all day long.

So today is Friday. I am running 18 again tomorrow. I don't usually run on Sunday's, so come Monday..... I am getting back on track. I am saying it here.... Spring Cleaning, laundry, cooking, my workouts, it will all be better and Stronger. I am sick of being lazy.

Sometimes, all it takes is getting 'fed up' with yourself. I totally understand.

I could have written that myself. Okay, maybe not the part about Boston. In the last couple weeks, I have been such a slacker and like you, doing the minimum that I "have" to. I'm taking a fresh start next week too!

Once winter is gone the spring will be back in your step (no pun intended) :) Good luck on the 18 tomorrow!

I totally know what you mean... sometimes you just have to start fresh... like you said Monday its on!

I have been slacking on the house cleaning and laundry but thats just cause marathon training leaves me too tired. Sometimes I get frustrated but just have to realize I cant do EVERYTHING... in order to be fully dedicated to some things, other areas have to get some slack.

I do just about everything half-assed. I'm not kidding. So, you're not alone... I don't know if that makes you feel any better or not. ;)

I felt like I was reading my own thoughts! EXACTLY! (except the winter, we have great weather here everyday). and I still can't get my arse in gear! I am running just enough to get by...that is it. Thanks for sharing your feelings. What books are you reading?

as I was reading your blog, I knew the slacking had to be related to the weather, even before you said it...it affects me the same way....hopefully Monday will give you a glimpse of Spring to help get back on track...have a good long run tomorrow

You took the words right out of my mouth! I am thinking that this winter really really needs to be over. I have been really half assing it too lateley. Glad to hear I am not alone. I am now a little more motivated to get out of this lazy funk and go for it! :)

I'm a new follower! I love reading your blog because it totally inspires me. It's good to know that others are half-assing it too. I'm sure it is weather related for me. It's been raining here for 3 days straight and I don't love my treadmill very much. Good luck on your 18 tomorrow! I wish I was even half that motivated.

I totally hear you...I was in a bit of a funk lately myself and it was hugely related to the cold cold weather we were having...but it's gotten warmer and i've been a lot happier and training better. I've got a 20 miler tmw that i'm not that excited about but it's got to be done! Think how good we'll both feel after our long run is overwith! Have a great run :)

Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom. It happens to the best of us.

Glad you are at the point of being sick of being lazy! We all go through that. So, now that you've told all of us your plans... you have to follow through!

Ha ha... here's something funny..
The word verification to leave this comment is "lowsy" (lousy). Pretty much sums up your feelings right now. You'll change that, tho!

Good luck on your 18 miler, mine is coming next week. I too am VERY ready for spring. We can both start on monday so you won't be alone. I am just coming off a week of being sick. Wake up, rise and shine and put on The Beatles, that will make anyone feel good to be alive even is sub-zero temps! Love you, good luck!!

We all go through some funks. And the long winter definitely doesn't help. Take the break you need, you'll get back on track soon!

I have been feeling the same way. I think some of it does really stem from the weather. One day it is beautiful and 80 the next it is rainy and cold. Right now, I am just trying to stay focused on accomplishing small goals.

Are you really being lazy or have you needed to back off a bit to let yourself relax a bit?

We all want to be a lot of things ALL the time and sometimes we just can't fit it all in. Don't be so hard on yourself, but also, make sure you want focus on the things that are the most important to you. It's okay to take a break every now and then. Be kind to youself as you get back on track.

Hope your 18 goes (or went) well!

Sometimes you just get too much going on and it all gets overwhelming, don't feel bad and cut yourself some slack. I'm sure you'll be back in the swing of things in no time.

Sometimes being a slacker means your body is telling you something . . . Just realize if your being lazy or your body is saying rest . . .

I tend to do the slacking!

Thanks for visiting my blog - new to reading yours as well! I hear you on the laziness....well, you read my last post...I didn't do anything for a week! And yeah, my house could use some work, etc. etc. But I did manage a little run today - guess what I saw?? GREEN STUFF! Grass and buds on trees and tulips popping up!! YAY! SPRING!

So don't worry, the funk will end soon enough...because soon you won't be able to pass up a good SPRING run! :-)

Yeah. This sounds like where I was in Jan/Feb sorta on and off. I can really empathize. I hope the change of seasons does the trick for you -- or maybe just posting about it will help shake things up!

I can totally relate to this post! I feel so lax at house duties, its pathetic at times. Running is good, but no x-training. Lets hope spring bring in a fresh start!
