another use for the GPS....

I wouldn't say we have a huge yard. But it sure seems like it takes my hubby F-O-R-E-V-E-R to mow the lawn. So I got this brilliant idea that he should wear my GPS and see just how far he walks when he mows. He mowed last night. First you should know that my hubby mows it twice. First one direction then the other. He is a little obsessed with having the grass look perfect. In fact, we have True Green the lawn company come and spray (fertilizer or something) about 7-8 times a year to keep it just right. Well, last week they came and sprayed ours and the next door neighbors. Well, they mixed it to hot or something because it killed our grass. Now, you should also know that it is not completely brown, in fact it is still pretty green, but the hubby is not so happy with what has happened and neither are the neighbors. Greg is calling today to find out what kind of a plan they have in the works to fix their mistake.
Anyways.....
he mowed last night and after mowing two directions... front and back. He walked a grand total of 2.2 miles. I wasn't real surprised. I thought that going over the lawn once would be about a mile. Greg wanted/thought it would be a lot further then that.

Well I ran my 20 mile run last Saturday, and it was awesome. I felt so dag gum good. I really think that if it hadn't been in the 80's by the time I finished up my 20 ,that I could have and would have been able to go a full 26.2. That is how good I felt. I always find it so strange how one week you have an amazing run and then the next week you can suck rocks. Let's hope that tomorrows 13-15 miles is another great run and not a rock sucker.

I love how a crappy run makes the good ones SO much better! Awesome job on the 20-miler.

Sucks about the yard - I hope they fix it up for you.. somehow!?

I did the same thing the first summer I got a GPS. Strapped it on and mowed the lawn. Ours is only 1.9, but that's only mowing it once. (It also includes to trips to the trash to empty the bag.)

We've done the same thing. How funny is that?!

Good luck on your run tomorrow. I'm running 8ish and then a 52 mile bike ride Sunday.

YOu must have a BIG yard, pretty sure my hubby could mow our yard 20 times and not get in 2 miles.

Good work on your 20 miler. I am going to do my first 20 miler tomorrow. GEEEZZZ!! Going out early to beat the heat

OH, I wish someone cared about our yard like that. I suppose I could pay someone to care because we sure don't. I'm sure it's beautiful.

Running is weird like that - one day, killer good and fast, next, you can't hardly make 10min/mile. Who knows! Enjoy the good, fast times.

Jeez you guys must have a monster of a yard. I hope hubby gets some action on the mistake. That's not cool.

Great to hear about the sucessful 20 miler. It's weird isn't it. It's like hair. One day you have an awesome hair day, the next total crap and you havn't done anything different. What gives?

SHUT UP! Okay, I about died when I read that he mows the lawn twice; once in each direction, because I do the very same thing! I cannot live with myself until I have done it twice. And if Chris mows the lawn (he only does it once) I HAVE to go out and mow it again in the other direction. We must be related or something. :)

You know I mow my lawn twice... I have to have a perfect lawn as well. I have worn my watch before and I went about that far too!

The other week while out walking I seen a rather heavy women on a rider cutting her grass in the 'baseball' style 2 directions and her yard was very small. I wondered why she wasted her money on a tractor instead of doing it with a walker. What a waste.....I love to include yard work in my workouts! Nothing better than dragging a 25lb sled with a 16lb kettlebell hanging on it behind me while cutting our grass for 2 hours! Talk about sweat....woof!
Have a great weekend and congrats on the great run, I can't wait till I can run again!

I think I will wear my gps the next time I mow the lawn. You should post the map of his "route"!

Hmmm.. 20 miles vs. 2.2 miles. No contest!

You are so recovered and in a great place for this upcoming race!

It is always such a great feeling to have a solid workout. It makes the crappy ones hurt a little less.
