question

Any of you other runners who are suffering through this awful humidity.... I have a question for y'all. Does the humidity slooooow you down? I have felt as though I have slowed down my average speed so much in the past 6 weeks or so. The only thing I can think of is the humidity. Growing up in Utah and living there until just 2 years ago, I am just not use to it. I hate it. It makes for a loooong and hard run. I find I lose my energy faster. I feel as though it is sucking the life out of me. Any of you other runners feel this way?

Yes! I am in the Houston area and have been complaining of humidity for the last month on my blog. It make it very hard to train for races.

Hellz yes! Humidity is the worst and I feel as if I'm suffocating some days. very difficult training/running weather.

I seem to slow down about 15 - 20 seconds per mile when it's humid. I run with Gatorade and drink every 1.25 miles. This seems to keep my pace fairly consistent. I don't feel like my life force is being completely drained anyway.

I find I get grumpy. By late afternoon, I have a short fuse about to blow.
I had to make sure i was hydrated enough and getting enough sleep.
Strangely, my muscles like this weather and seem to loosen up. But I'd do anything to travel to a cool climate right now!!

I live near Washington DC, and the humidity here can be a real killer. I don't think my body ever really adjusts to it. Run early in the morning, drink a lot of water, pour cold water over your head, and good luck.

yep, heat/humidity cause the body to work harder, and slow my pace down, sometimes as much as 30/sec mile...

I think I've just thrown my hands in the air and said whatever. It is what it is...hot. Makes you appreciate the cool days that much more!
